Prior to this new exhaust I had recently installed new headers. I did have duel exhaust but it consisted of pipe and cats. The neighbor wanted no loud noise in the neighborhood so I had to start the thing only when he was gone. It was loud! The pipes exited in front of the rear tires which interfered with the emergency brake cable operation. I wanted to have a complete exhaust to include mufflers, pipe and cats. I reused the old cats as they were still relativly new. The muffler shop did a fantastic job of welding up the pipes and mounting hangers. The final sound was a deep throaty whap whap whap. I would have liked to had a cross over pipe that mated the two pipes just to see what the difference would be but that will come later. The entire project cost me about $250.00. Well worth it.
Without a lift I could not get a good shot of the entire exhaust. Here is a shot of the passanger side muffler, cat and pipe.
The passanger side is where the stock pipe exited and you can see the heat shield in front of the fuel tank. I need to add the same thing on the drivers side to protect the fuel tank from exhaust heat.
The clearance between the fuel tank and the pipe is about 2 inches. Probably enough to be safe but to be on the safe side the heat shield will be added later. |
